As the year winds down this week, it’s nice to reflect on the year behind us and think about our plans and goals for the upcoming new year. It is a great time to think about things you might like to change, important tasks you need to complete, or even new hobbies you want to try.
Remember to be kind to yourself and view the things you’d like to change as moments of growth and learning. It’s easy to be hard on yourself when you’ve made mistakes or wish you’d done something a little different. But, without those experiences, you’re unlikely to do things differently in the future. Think through your highs and lows, and then move on to goals you hope to achieve for the new year.
Making goals for yourself should feel exciting. If it feels like a chore, or you’re not sure what they should be, don’t push it. Give yourself time to think through the weeks ahead, these don’t have to be decided right away. Even just one general theme can be a great start! As we all know, getting healthier is one that is beneficial for anyone. This could be making better food choices, controlling portion sizes or getting more exercise. Focusing on your mental health through meditation or mindful reflection is also important to getting healthier. Any one of these small changes can make a big difference.
There is something about a new year that brings hope, renewed energy and a desire to be the best version of ourselves. Here’s to a happy and healthy 2022!
